Catch up blog.

Have been traveling thru some beautiful scenery and saw a few animals, that said have also been off the grid as no cell service and no wifi.  Things got so bad I had to talk to my wife, terrible!  Anyway last time we met on this blog we had just left Dawson Creek, north bound on route 97, Well since then we have been to memorable places like Toad Lick and Lizzard hot springs.  We overnighted at Muncho Lake, where you could catch a sea plane and fly off to a distant lake and do some real fishing.  Leaving Muncho, I looked in my rear view camera and noticed that my tow bars were malfunctioning.  I don't think I am supposed to drive pulling the car side-ways.  We pulled over about 10 miles north and I unhooked the car and we proceed to try to locate a repair facility to fix the tow bar (in this land, NOT). I was going to pass Lizard Hot Springs up but there was a lodge and gas pumps and about 15 bikers there and I decided to stop.  Folks, God is good.  I pulled up to the gas pumps and an Eskimo was pumping gas and I explained my problem, he said he did not know if he could help but he would look at it.  Took this man all of 3mins to determine the problem and he borrowed my needle nose pliers and had the arm of tow bar locking again in 10mins.  I am telling you this man was placed there for a reason, rest assured he was compensated, even after he refused. We have been truly blessed on the expedition, the weather, has been great, if not a little cold, mid 40s every night, but wonderful.  We ventured on to the thriving city of Teslin, BC., where we got a good campsite and ate a very satisfying meal at their restaurant and with the 15 or so Wild Hogs we met earlier up the road.  Cool group of guys.  We pulled out the next day (06/21/15) and proceeded to a delightful location called Destruction Bay.  Now as I was checking into the Cottonwood Rv park, the owner informed me that they, the park, was the epicenter for Grizzlies in the Yukon Territory.  This brings us up to date, We left out this am from Destruction Bay (and no I did not see a bear at the RV park, on the road is a different story).  We proceeded to the the US border and Alaska.  Prior to the US Border I drove some of the most horrid roads ever built by man.  We and the vehicles got beat to death on rough roads, gravel roads and mud roads.  Cannot see out my windshield for all the circles around the cracks cause by flying gravel.  I am proud to report that I am typing this from my RV at the Sourdough RV Park, in the town of TOK, Alaska on highway 1.  Will be heading south tomorrow to Palmer, AK., to visit a friend and do some sight seeing and then up to Denali and wander around for a few days,  Stay tuned, I will have more, for now enjoy the photos, all the animals were "Shot by my Wife".

The above are the flat sister relaxing on the couch while we do all the work.  and the the mud run 2015, they call a highway in BC.

The top photo in this series is of course buffalo, who roam free.  The second is our guardian angel, Richard. Third is a young black bear then we came upon this 3-4hundred pound brown bear, who was follow closely by a black bear of equal size.  WiFi is particularly slow tonight, will post more tomorrow, thanks for following along on our journey.

  1. Is this the Dalton Highway? Many bikers make this trek and can be absolute hell.
